AI in the CRM
ChatGPT and Claude working on the same company data
Why your two assistants don't pass information to each other and how to make them work on the same client record.
ChatGPT and Claude don't share what they know: each one keeps its conversations in its own account, and what you tell one of them the other never sees. To make them work together without copying and pasting, connect both to the same source of data, which in a service business is usually the CRM. What Claude saves on a client's record, ChatGPT reads on the next question, and the other way around.
This happens a lot in small agencies and consultancies. The director prefers Claude for reading long contracts, the account manager writes emails with ChatGPT, and summaries pasted into the team chat travel between the two. By the third week nobody knows which version of the client is the right one.
Why ChatGPT and Claude don't pass information to each other
They are products of two different companies, OpenAI and Anthropic. Each one remembers what happened in its own conversations and in the account of the person using it. There is no common thread between them, so the usual way to make them "work together" is for a person to act as the bridge: copy the answer from one and paste it into the other.
That bridge fails in familiar ways:
- pasted text is a snapshot of one moment; if the client pays an invoice tomorrow, the other assistant still thinks they owe it;
- each person pastes what seems important to them, and the context arrives cut short;
- client data ends up spread across personal chats the rest of the team cannot check.
How to make ChatGPT and Claude work together: one source
The way out is to connect both assistants to the same place. ChatGPT and Claude, on the accounts that allow it, accept custom connectors, also called MCP connectors. With one of those connectors, the assistant reads and changes data in another application without anyone pasting anything into it.
In AgentticCRM, each person copies the connection URL in My agents, in their profile, pastes it into their ChatGPT or Claude and confirms once. You can connect one, the other or both. From then on both read the same clients, proposals, projects and invoices, with the data as it stands when you ask. The full steps are in how to connect ChatGPT or Claude to your CRM.
The conversation stays in each assistant. What gets saved in the CRM is what changed: the note, the task or the document, with who asked for it and when.
A handoff between the two, step by step
Picture a consultancy with a new prospect, Grupo Andino.
- On Monday, the director asks Claude: "Attached is the requirements document Grupo Andino sent us. Save a summary on their record with the scope and the dates they're asking for."
- On Tuesday, the account manager asks ChatGPT: "Using what Grupo Andino's record says, put together a draft proposal with our consulting service."
- On Wednesday, either of them asks: "What's still pending with Grupo Andino?", and the answer comes from the same record.
Both assistants worked on the same client file, which is also the one the rest of the team opens when they need the context.
What to save in the CRM and what to leave in the chat
Not everything you discuss with your AI has to end up in the CRM. A simple rule:
- in the CRM, what another person or the other assistant will need later: a meeting summary, what was agreed, the next step, a new contact's details;
- in the chat, experiments, half-formed ideas and drafts that are no use to anyone yet.
If a summary has to work as a rule for the whole team, like a policy or a procedure, it belongs in the knowledge base. We explain that in your CRM as your company's memory.
Permissions and the record with two assistants connected
Connecting two assistants doesn't add permissions. Each one works with the role of the person who connected it: if your user can't see invoices, neither your ChatGPT nor your Claude can.
Every change shows up in Agent activity and on the record it touched, with who asked for it and which connection it came from. That way you know whether a note was left by the director's Claude or the account manager's ChatGPT, and you undo it if something doesn't add up. Sending emails, proposals and invoices, and deletions that can't be reversed, wait for a person to approve them. What your AI can do in each part of the CRM is on ChatGPT and Claude in your CRM, and how it differs from the Assistant that lives inside the application, on Assistant and connections.
Frequently asked questions
Can I connect ChatGPT and Claude at the same time?
Yes. Each connection appears in My agents, with the date it was last used, and you disconnect it with one click whenever you want.
Can Claude read my conversations with ChatGPT?
No. Each conversation stays in the assistant where you had it. What the two share is what you saved in the CRM.
Does it work with other AI assistants?
With any assistant that accepts custom connectors, also called MCP connectors. ChatGPT and Claude are the most widely used.
